| Our Crest: It's Meaning |
The coat of arms you see on these pages reflects what our guilde stands for and what we hope to achieve with our group. Each color and symbol has a meaning, and they are as follows:
The Tudor Rose on a background of yellow: Most of us started playing English courtiers, and this pays homage to our English roots. We now provide English court for several events. Yellow is the traditional color of friendship.
The Fleur de lys on a background of blue: This represents our new focus - that being the premiere French court group on the West Coast. We have found that we are the only (!) true French court group currently on the small faire circuit in California, so we strive now even harder to be the best and set the standard. The blue represents our commitment to this task; the idea of being “true blue”.
The Lion rampant on a background of red: This represents the pride that we take in our work, and our tenacity to keep going forward. The red fits well here, as it is the color of passion.
The Coronet on a background of green: We are a guilde of nobility, so the coronet represents this: we wish to be noble both on and off stage. Not just noble in terms of rank and station, but in the work as a group to aid the outside sources we perform for. The majority of the faires that we perform at are charitable events that benefit the communities in which they are located. Green is a traditional color of nobility.
